Driveway Cleaning
That Clears Algae, Mildew, and Mold
Your driveway takes on algae, mildew, and mold over time. In Washington County’s four-season climate, with hot, humid summers, that growth is a common reason concrete driveways need cleaning. At Pro Kleen Industries, we clean established concrete driveways in two steps: a surface cleaner first, then a post-treatment that works down into the pores. New concrete gets a gentler soft wash instead. Call (724) 344-2534 to get that growth off your driveway.
The Driveway
Surfaces We Clean
The right cleaning method depends on your driveway’s concrete type and age, so we assess both before starting. Everything but new concrete gets the full two-step clean.
Broom-Finish Concrete
Most driveways here are broom-finish concrete, and that is what we clean most. It gets a surface cleaner pass and then the post-treatment. Older concrete takes the pressure it can handle without etching the surface.
Exposed Aggregate
We clean exposed aggregate driveways using the same two steps: the surface cleaner first, then the post-treatment worked into the surface.
Stamped / Decorative Concrete
Stamped and decorative concrete driveways get the same careful two-step clean. The surface cleaner covers them evenly, and the post-treatment follows.
New Concrete
New concrete driveways, even a few months old, are more delicate, so they get a soft wash only. No surface cleaner, no high pressure. We get a lot of these calls when the concrete contractor poured the driveway and never came back to clean or seal it.
Why Homeowners Pick Us
for Driveway Cleaning, Old or New
Here is what sets our driveway cleaning apart, from the second step most companies skip to the water we bring with us.
The Post-Treatment Most Companies Skip
Every driveway except those with new concrete gets cleaned twice. After the surface cleaner, we go back over the whole driveway with a post-treatment. Most companies skip that second step because it costs time and money. It is what gives you a deeper clean that stays clean longer, and it lets sealer soak in further if you add it.
Pressure Matched to Your Concrete's Age
We ask how old your driveway’s concrete is before we start, then confirm its condition on site. New concrete is more delicate and gets a soft wash. Older concrete can stand up to higher cleaning pressure, so we match the pressure to the concrete’s age to reduce the risk of surface damage.
No Wand Stripes or Lines
We clean established concrete driveways with a surface cleaner, not a wand, so it covers the slab evenly instead of leaving the zebra striping a wand leaves behind. The post-treatment clears any striping that remains. Stripes left by the last company are one of the most common complaints we hear.
Water Brought to the Far End of the Driveway
If your driveway runs a long way from the house, we can bring water to the far end for an added charge. Our trucks carry self-contained water tanks, allowing us to clean areas far from the property’s water supply.

How Our Driveway Cleaning Goes,
Step by Step
The Free Estimate and the Concrete-Age Question
Reach us by call, text, or the web form. We try not to let anything go to voicemail. One of the first things we ask is how old your driveway is, because the age and condition of the concrete determine how we clean it. We assess the driveway’s condition, discuss any problem areas, and provide an itemized written estimate that explains what’s included, what’s excluded, and what the cleaning will cost.
Booking and Three Heads-Ups
Once you accept the estimate, you are on the schedule. You get a confirmation by text and email, a reminder the day before, and a text about two hours out. If rain moves into the forecast, we call you to reschedule.
Street Parking, Cones, and the First Walk-Around
Our branded trucks park on the street so we never block the driveway we came to clean, and we cone off the work area. Your technician arrives in a branded polo with their name on it, knocks, and introduces the crew. If you’re home, we walk the driveway with you to identify any areas of concern and check the concrete’s condition before cleaning. We photograph the property on arrival and keep those photos on your work order as protection for you.
The Surface Cleaner Pass
For established concrete driveways, we use a surface cleaner with detergent, adjusting the pressure to suit the concrete’s age and condition. New concrete is more delicate, so we skip the surface cleaner and post-treatment and use a low-pressure soft wash instead. Our pressure washing equipment and self-contained water tanks allow us to clean driveways even when the work area is far from the property’s water supply.
The Post-Treatment
On established concrete driveways, we apply an oxalic-acid post-treatment across the entire cleaned surface, not just individual spots. It works down into the concrete’s pores for a deeper clean than a single surface-cleaner pass provides. New concrete does not receive this step.
Final Rinse and Walk-Around
We rinse the driveway and, if you’re home, walk the finished area with you to make sure everything meets your expectations. Payment is due on completion: check or cash to the technician, or credit card through the invoice we email or text you.
Sealing After
Your Driveway Cleaning
Our post-treatment provides a deeper clean that also helps sealer penetrate the concrete if you choose to add sealing. We never apply sealer over a dirty surface, so proper cleaning always comes first. Fall and early winter are popular times for concrete sealing in Washington County. If you’d like to protect your driveway after cleaning, ask us about concrete sealing.
What Driveway Cleaning
Costs per Square Foot
We price driveway cleaning by the square foot, based on the size of your driveway. Your final price is provided in an itemized written estimate, so you know exactly what’s included before work begins.
| Pricing | Details |
|---|---|
| $0.25 per square foot, $250 minimum | $0.25 per square foot, $250 minimum. The $250 minimum applies to smaller driveways. For larger driveways, pricing is based on the total area being cleaned. |
| Good to Know | Water delivery is available for an added charge. We use your outdoor water spigot by default. If your property is on a well or spring, or your driveway is too far from a water source, we can bring our own water. The additional charge depends on the job size and volume of water needed, and we’ll explain it in your estimate. |
| Bundle & Save | Bundle pricing is available when you combine driveway cleaning with other services, such as house washing, window cleaning, gutter cleaning, or roof cleaning. Ask about bundle pricing when you request your estimate. |
Our Walk-Around Promise
on Driveway Cleaning
If you’re home, we walk the driveway with you before leaving to make sure everything meets your standards. If we missed something, we come back and make it right at no charge. During the initial walk-around, you can point out the areas that matter most to you. At the end, we check the finished driveway against those expectations.

Driveway Cleaning Questions
Can you get oil stains out of my driveway?
We can lighten oil stains, and we’ll get them as clean as we can, but we can’t guarantee full removal. An old stain on concrete that was never sealed has soaked in deep. The sooner after a spill you call us, the better the result.
Does driveway cleaning include paint, rust, or stain removal?
A standard driveway cleaning doesn’t include paint removal, rust removal, efflorescence removal, or stain removal. We list these exclusions on every estimate so there are no surprises.
How long does driveway cleaning take?
Driveway cleaning can take anywhere from an hour to a full day, or longer for very large properties. A standard driveway typically takes less time, while longer driveways and larger areas require more.
Can you clean a cracked or crumbling driveway?
If your driveway is crumbling or falling apart, washing it won’t help. It needs to be repaired or replaced first. We’ll tell you honestly if that’s what we find.
Do I need to be home for my driveway cleaning?
No, you don’t need to be home. We need access to a working outdoor spigot unless we’re bringing our own water. We’ll ask how old your driveway’s concrete is when you book so we can plan the appropriate cleaning method. If your property is gated, we’ll arrange access ahead of time. If you’re home, we’ll walk the driveway with you before and after cleaning.
